If you want waterfront luxury with a Mediterranean edge, Ancora is in a league of its own on the Tweed Coast. Soaring ceilings, a white breezeblock entry, rattan lighting and sweeping views over the Tweed River. It's contemporary and elegant without trying too hard. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is relaxed and stylish in equal measure, and the ceremony garden overlooking the water is one of the most beautiful spots on the coast.
Ancora sits right at the heart of the Tweed perched on Wharf Street in Tweed Heads with the river stretching out in front of it and that unmistakable Northern Rivers light doing what it does best. There's a quality to the space that's hard to manufacture: genuinely warm, genuinely beautiful and genuinely relaxed all at once. The team behind it are the same hospitality minds responsible for Osteria Casuarina and Farm + Co — and that experience shows in everything from the menu to the way the day flows.
I had the privilege of officiating for Zoe and Stephen here on the 18th of April 2026, and it was a day I won't forget in a hurry. April on the Tweed Coast is about as good as it gets, that early autumn sweet spot where the humidity has eased, the light is golden and long, and the river catches it in a way that makes every photo look like it was planned. The ceremony space at Ancora, with the Tweed River spread out behind the couple and the warm interior spilling out onto the waterfront, gave the whole day a sense of place that felt completely effortless. Zoe and Stephen's ceremony was intimate, heartfelt and filled with the kind of easy laughter that tells you everything you need to know about two people. Standing at the water's edge at Ancora on an April afternoon, telling their story, it was one of those moments that makes this job feel like the best job in the world.
Lee & Theresa— Summergrove Estate | March 2026
There's a reason Summergrove is consistently named one of Australia's best wedding venues, it earned it. Set across 73 private acres in the Tweed hinterland at Carool, just 15 minutes from Coolangatta Airport, Summergrove has panoramic views stretching from the valley all the way to the coast, a white chapel with floor-to-ceiling glass, a beautifully built reception barn with vaulted ceilings and exposed timber beams, and six romantic onsite villas so the couple and bridal party can stay on the property.
It was voted number one ceremony and reception venue in Australia at the 2025 ABIA National Awards and inducted into the ABIA Hall of Fame and when you're there, you understand why. Every corner of the property photographs beautifully. The atmosphere is romantic and intimate without being fussy.
I had the privilege of officiating at Summergrove for Lee and Theresa's wedding on 30 March 2026 and it was one of those days that reminds you exactly why this venue has the reputation it does. The white chapel with its floor-to-ceiling glass and panoramic views across the valley to the coast is genuinely one of the most beautiful ceremony spaces I've stood in. Late March in the hinterland means that particular golden quality of early autumn light, soft, warm and absolutely made for photographs. The property was in full bloom, the vistas were extraordinary, and Lee and Theresa's ceremony was warm, personal and everything a day like that deserves to be. Standing in that chapel, looking out across 73 acres of hinterland with the valley stretching out beyond, it's hard to imagine a more extraordinary place to say "I do."
